Everyone is invited to the Lynchburg Jamboree every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. on the Lynchburg Square.

Food distribution

The following locations are offering free food when available to all those in need: Abundant Life Church, 3310 Cowan Hwy., Winchester, on the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m.; First Baptist Church, 218 N. Main St., Estill Springs, on the second Saturday of each month from 9-10 a.m.; First Baptist Church, 108 S. High St., Winchester, on the first Saturday of each month in February, May, August and November; Campora Resource Center, 900 S. Shepherd St., Winchester, every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m.; Huntland United Methodist Church, 108 Methodist Ave., Huntland, on the third Saturday of the month at 2 p.m.; Good Samaritan Ministries, 1725 Decherd Blvd., Decherd, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; The Table, 106 Roger St., Cowan, every Saturday from 3-7 p.m.; Journey Church, 916 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, every third Thursday.

AlAnon meetings

AlAnon meetings for family members or friends struggling with problem drinkers are held on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 100 S. Jefferson St., Winchester. In Tullahoma, meetings are held at Serenity House, 313 Collins Ave., Tullahoma, on Mondays at 7 p.m. Call 931-327-2165.

Full Moon Healing Project

Anyone who has experienced any type of abuse such as domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking or who is struggling with mental health issues or substance abuse may attend the Full Moon Healing Project group meetings held each Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Campora Family Resource Center, 900 S. Farmers Markets

The Franklin County Farmers Market, located at 817 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, is open each Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday at 7 a.m. A farmers market is also held at the Franklin County Senior Center, 74 Clover Dr. in Winchester, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to noon.

TN Camp Thrive

Tennessee Camp Thrive in Franklin County is looking for 30 committed children ages 9-12 and their families to participate in its year-long day camp that will provide social activities, leadership lessons as well as fun outings. Camp is held one Saturday each month. For information, call 931-800-9112. This project is funded under a grant contract with the state of Tennessee.

Grocery-tax holiday

Tennessee's 2023 grocery-tax holiday on food and food ingredients is underway and runs through Oct. 31. Liquor is not included.

Community art show

The newest community art show is open at the Artisan Depot Gallery and Gift Shop, 204 Cumberland St., Cowan. The theme is “What Happened to Summer.” Visit franklincoarts.org.

Sept. 2

In Service to Others

The second annual In Service to Others will be held on Saturday at 104 Monterey St. in Cowan featuring a silent auction, bike show and benefit ride. Enjoy live music by Nashville artist Trey Miller leading up to a special appearance by Anita Cochran. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The benefit ride starts at 1 p.m. Cost is $20 per bike and $10 for passengers. Proceeds will provide medical care for a child with cerebral palsy. PUNISHERS LE MC 777 Chapter is a nonprofit law-enforcement motorcycle club whose members consist of current law enforcement, retired law enforcement, firefighters, active EMS personnel, active and retired military and a select few like-minded individuals. Lee Gibson in concert

Lee Gibson will perform in concert Saturday at 7 p.m. at the South Jackson Civic Center’s outdoor venue in Tullahoma. For tickets, go to Southjackson.org. Food and a bar will be available.

Family reunion

Descendants of William Andrew Limbaugh (1876-1938) and his wife, Mary Virginia "Jennie" Counts (1881-1920), invite all relations to join them at Walnut Grove gym for a family reunion on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. Bring your favorite dish and a drink to share. Sobriety checkpoint

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will conduct sobriety checkpoints on Saturday in Franklin County from 6 p.m. to midnight. Locations may include the intersection of Highway 41A and Highway 156, Cowan Highway in Williams Cove Road and Old Tullahoma Road around North Lake Elementary.

Sept. 5

Dance classes

The first of a series of social dancing classes will be held Sept. 5 and every Tuesday thereafter for four weeks at the Firefly Ballroom in Cowan. Beginner class is at 6 p.m. followed by intermediate at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per class, payable at the door. Other dances will be coming up. Pet wellness clinic

Animal Harbor will provide a pet wellness clinic with free vaccines, pet food by need, reduced-fee spay/neuter (not performed on site) and reduced-fee rabies shots and other services for community pets on the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon at Animal Harbor, 56 Nor-Nan Road. The Coffee County Out of the Darkness Walk will be held on Sept. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rotary Park, 557 North Woodland St., Manchester. The event is held by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

DAV meeting

Disabled American Veterans Chapter #71 (Franklin County and beyond) will meet on Sept. 19 at the VFW building on AEDC Road in Estill Springs. One Day of Hope

Manchester’s annual One Day of Hope will be held on Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coffee County Fairgrounds, 99 Lakeview Dr., Manchester. The event is free for families in need. Services include free groceries, haircuts, clothing, prayer, job and career services, lunches, free family portraits, medical and dental screenings, community services and a kids zone.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held on Oct.24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Franklin County, 925 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held on Oct. 27 from 1-7 p.m. at Winchester Church of Christ, 1230 South College St., Winchester.

Nov. 4

Animal Harbor

Goes Hollywood

Everyone is invited to dress as a favorite movie character and join in for a star-studded fundraising night, “Animal Harbor Goes Hollywood,” on Nov. 4 from 6-9 p.m. at Monterey Station in Cowan. Activities include an exclusive cigar-and-whiskey porch, red-carpet photos, DJ music through the decades, swing-dance demonstrations and fancy food stations. Cost is $65 each, $85 with a T-shirt, $130 for couples or $170 for couples and two T-shirts. VIP tables are $550 for eight tickets and a VIP experience. Proceeds go to Animal Harbor’s mission.
