With technology advancing at lightning speed, these electric bikes are not only fast, but sport sexy looks, quick charge times, and good range.

Let's face it. Electric bikes are not everyone's cup of tea, but with advancements in electric motorcycles coming hard and fast, the market is starting to see innovative technology get integrated with real style, resulting in some of the coolest-looking electric motorcycles built up to this point.

Motorcycles are more than the sum of their parts, that is to say, that riders feel a bike, they resonate with it. Riding a motorcycle, in a way, is the act of becoming one with the vehicle, the bike responding to your every movement and input while you reciprocate and learn to ride the bike how it wants to be ridden.

These electric bikes aspire to capture that feeling that many riders may still attribute only to ICE-powered motorcycles. They represent the cutting edge of battery technology but also feature style and designs that speak to the soul of the rider. The best thing about this fledgling market is that companies are pushing out bikes in many different classes, with electric racebikes, cruisers, street-fighters, or even retro electric motorcycles hitting the market.

Manufacturer

Verge

Power

201 hp

Torque

885 lb-ft

Battery

20.2 kWh

Range

233 miles

Finnish company Verge hit the design nail on the head with the TS Ultra. The roadster-style electric bike looks a bit more sporty than a cruiser, but takes cues from modern ICE road bikes in order to appeal to today's riders while still offering touches of futuristic tech.

The Verge TS Ultra features revolutionary technology, like a hubless electric rim motor that gets integrated into the rear wheel. This choice of motor placement allows more room for optimum battery pack position in the chassis. That optimized weight distribution comes in handy when you twist the throttle unleashing the 201 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque on tap.

Verge didn't make any compromises when it came to making that kind of power, with the bike offering a 233-mile range and a charge time of just 25 minutes for an 80% charge. Riders can enjoy the 0-60 MPH time of just 2.5 seconds and still be confident of making it home. With selectable ride modes dubbed "Zen" mode and "Beast" mode, Verge's TS Ultra is an electric bike that has soul.

Manufacturer

Arc

Power

113 hp

Torque

128 lb-ft

Battery

16.8 kWh

Range

270 miles

The 2018 concept for this British electric bike got worked on and refined, with ex-MotoGP rider James Ellison testing the Arc Vector to help turn the British company's vision into reality. Arc underwent some financial issues when key investors pulled out, but founder and CEO Mark Truman bought the company back and pushed development through where now in 2023 bikes are being delivered to customers.

Seven production bikes have already delivered as of May 2023. Ryan Reynolds' awesome motorcycle collection just got more awesome as he received the very first Arc Vector bike, and Arc reports that they have deposits for at least 20 more bikes.

The bike is expensive at about $125K a pop but looks set to deliver the goods with 113 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque complemented by all top-of-the-line components. The Vector comes with Brembo Stylema calipers, BST wheels, and carbon fiber front and rear swingarms, with traditional forks getting replaced by a front swinging arm in the hub-centered steering design.

Manufacturer

Damon

Power

200 hp

Torque

148 lb-ft

Battery

20 kWh

Range

150 miles

Canadian-based Damon created a street fighter-style electric bike that is reminiscent of the Ducati Streetfighter. Dubbed the Hyperfighter, the top-spec Hyperfighter Colossus has a claimed 200 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, top speed of 170 MPH, and goes 0-60 MPH in 2.7 seconds. That performance gets backed up by a 0-80% charge time in 45 minutes with DC fast charging, and a total range of 150 miles.

The Damon Hyperfighter's high tech-features are not all about speed and battery life though. Damon's "Copilot" feature uses 4D imaging radar to identify hazards with what the Damon website calls the 360-degree Advanced Motorcycle Warning System. Riders get alerted to potential hazards via haptic handlebar feedback and windscreen alert LEDs.

The "SHIFT" feature on the Damon also allows for on-the-fly riding position adjustment with just a push of a button transforming the bike's ergonomics and riding triangle for sport or commute riding.

Manufacturer

Evoke

Power

161 hp

Torque

162 lb-ft

Battery

24.8 kWh

Range

292 miles

Chinese company Evoke took the world by storm when it announced the creation of an electric cruiser bike. This places the Evoke 6061 in direct competition with the Harley-Davidson Livewire electric cruiser motorcycle. The Evoke 6061 produces 161 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque and claims a top speed of 143 MPH, which is really moving when you're sitting back relaxed in a cruising riding position with your feet up.

The huge 24.8 kw/h battery pack claims a maximum range of 292 miles city, an impressive spec compared to other current electric bikes on the market. With DC fast charging, a 0-80% charge gets completed in just 15 minutes when using a 125 kW fast-charger.

Outlaw motorcycle clubs aren't thrilled with electric bikes, and an American riding around on a Chinese electric cruiser is definitely not going to help one make friends in those niche circles, but there's no hiding the fact that the Evoke 6061 has impressive specs.

Manufacturer

Energica

Power

171 hp

Torque

164 lb-ft

Battery

21.5 kWh

Range

261 miles

The Energica website calls the Eva Ribelle an electric E-fighter. It has an urban streetfighter look and an upright seating position, but features the same high performance of their sporty e-bike, the Energica Ego+. Energica is a big-hitter in the electric bike industry, and the EVA Ribelle RS has specs that could convince many nay-sayers to have second thoughts about e-bikes.

The RS has 171 hp and 164 lb-ft torque and scorches to 0-60 MPH in under 2.6 seconds. The 21.5 kWh battery allows the EVA Ribelle RS to boast a huge 261-mile range maximum. The new EMCE motor and inverter extend total range by 10% over the previous model by lowering weight and utilizing greater thermal efficiency.

Manufacturer

Harley-Davidson

Power

84 hp

Torque

194 lb-ft

Battery

10.5 kWh

Range

113 miles

Harley-Davidson made LiveWire a standalone EV division in 2021, with the famous American manufacturer now boasting two distinct models within their electric motorcycle model range. The LiveWire S2 Del Mar sold out in minutes, with the bike creating huge hype and aimed squarely at the urban commuter with a relatively affordable price tag around the $15K mark.

With the 10.5 kWh battery allowing just 113 miles range in the city, the bike is more about bringing Harley style and flair into the younger city riders' nexus, than pushing the boundaries of battery technology. The S2 Del Mar sports 84 hp and a healthy 194 lb-ft of torque, powering the bike's 436 lbs to 0-60 MPH in 3 seconds.

Manufacturer

Energica

Power

170hp

Torque

164 lb-ft

Battery

21.5 kWh

Range

261 miles

The Energica Ego+ RS isn't just an electric bike with sportbike style, it's a supersport bike with race pedigree. Before Ducati's new electric bike took over in MotoE, the premier electric bike racing series, Energica supplied the class with their electric race bikes. The Ego+ RS is the amalgamation of the data and lessons learned in the best R&D facility there is: the top flight of racing.

Making 170 hp and boasting a top speed of 150 MPH, the Ego+ RS is not for the faint of heart. The performance doesn't end there, with the bike combining that incredible performance with a combined range of 261 miles, making it a street-able electric sportbike that in many ways sets the bar for electric sportbikes.

Manufacturer

Confederate

Power

110 hp

Torque

148 lb-ft

Battery

8.8 kWh

Range

120 miles

Previously known as Confederate Motors, Curtiss Motorcycle Co. has gone all in on their electric bike dubbed The 1. The name stems from their philosophy of the bike lasting forever and being able to get handed down to the owner's kids eventually. The fully modular battery pack is replaceable as technology improves, and the first battery refresh gets included in the bike's sale price.

Before changing to Curtiss, the company was also doing business under the Combat Motors name. The 1 shares certain features with the radical Combat Wraith bike that the American manufacturer also produced. The 1 uses aluminum generously throughout the bike, features a wide range of adjustable controls, and has a distinct, aggressive styling.

The 1 can produce 217 hp from the axial flux motor but is electronically limited to 110 hp, boasts a 120-mile highway and 75-mile city range, and Curtiss is offering the chance to own a piece of the company, an opportunity just as unique as owning a luxury electric cruiser.

Manufacturer

Zero

Power

110 hp

Torque

140 lb-ft

Battery

17.3 kWh

Range

187 miles

Zero is a California-based company that makes only electric bikes, with the Zero SR/F offering sporty looks and performance in a standard, naked bike form. The overall look of the bike is subtle, and at a glance on the road, you may get forgiven for not even knowing the bike is electric.

The 110 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque are plenty to boost around town with the 17.3 kWh battery pack providing roughly a 187 mile city range. Obviously, riders can expect a much lower total range if they choose to test out the claimed top speed of 124 MPH at any point.

Riders can rest easy with a charge time of just around an hour with a 6kW rapid charger getting you a full charge.

Manufacturer

Fuell

Power

47 hp

Torque

553 lb-ft

Battery

10 Wh

Range

150 miles

Fuell is an American electric bike company created by fabled motorcycle designer Erik Buell. The Fllow got announced back in 2019, with orders still accepted on the Fuell website as of Summer 2023. The target price of $11,995 gets you 47 hp and a monster 553 lb-ft or torque, with the bike going 0-60 MPH in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 85 MPH.

The bike is purpose-built for commuting, not outright performance, with the most impressive spec being the ability to fully charge the kWh battery in just 30 minutes. Around 150 miles city range from the chassis integrated battery pack is standard, and the bike features what Fuell calls future-proofing with the battery pack, rear wheel motor, and fast charging socket all upgradeable as tech evolves.
